The projects, 1,250KVA Generator and 350,000 Liters Capacity Water Facility with a Water Treatment Plant, bring a new of lease of life to the people of Idama who have been without power and water for a while and disconnected from the thriving outside world.
Speaking, former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Jonathan represented by Ambassador Godknows Igali, commended the NNPC/Belemaoil for embarking on the projects and hoped that other operators in the industry will emulate their example and change the narrative of neglect of communities in the Niger Delta.
He also commended the Founder/President of Belemaoil Producing Limited for his commitment to development and empowerment of host communities and assured him of his continuous support to the company.
Representative of the Chief Upstream Investment Officer, NUIMS, Mrs. Celestina Arubi, said that NNPC Limited was “proud to commission another laudable and essential project which would provide succour to the people. This project is in furtherance of the Government’s Social Investment initiative through its Oil and Gas sector.
She said “Our vision for social interventions is to operate in an ethical and sustainable manner and deal with the environment and social impact occasioned by our activities, hence the approval of various projects by our operators across the country for maximal impact.” She assured that they will continue to partner with Belemaoil, while also calling on other operators to emulate the Belemaoil model.
Also Speaking, the President and Founder of Belemaoil Producing Limited, Mr Tein T.S Jack-Rich, commended President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and NNPC Ltd for their continuous support to the company.
Mr. Jack-Rich announced that the company would commission other projects in the coming months, such as Kula Electricity Project, as well as other projects in Sokoto and Enugu states.
“I want to thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who has been so supportive to every ideas and every opportunities that I have sought for. I also appreciate our former President Goodluck Jonathan, who calls me his son.
“I appeal to the people in our region we must come together, rally round what we have in order to produce what we need. Nobody will celebrate you if you fail to recognized who you are.
“The battle has moved from carrying of guns to intellectual warfare. If other operators can emulate the Belemaoil model, the host communities and the oil industry will be at peace.”
Also, the Amanyanabo of Idama community, King Karibo Karibo, said the project signified the cordial relationship between Idama community and Belemaoil.
Similarly, the President of Ijaw National Congress, Prof Benjamin Okaba, commended Belema oil for setting the pace and urged the oil firm to do more.
For his part the President of Ijaw Youths Council, Comrade Peter Igbifa, prayed for Belemaoil to prosper and take a solid position among oil majors as to continue to lead the pace in providing innovative solutions in empowerment and development to their host communities.
